Ingredients

  • 9 chocolates (Mon Chéri)
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • to taste powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit,

    Unroll the first sheet of puff pastry and lay it with its own paper on a baking tray.

    Arrange the Mon Chéri chocolates in 3 rows as shown in the picture.

  • Unroll the second sheet of puff pastry and lay it over the chocolates, fully covering them. Gently press around the chocolates to better adhere the two layers of pastry.

    With a star-shaped cookie cutter (or another shape, as desired), cut out stars around each chocolate, then remove the excess pastry.

  • Brush the surface of the stars with the beaten egg yolk and sprinkle the granulated sugar.

    Bake for about 20 minutes until golden. During baking, some liqueur might leak out. Don’t worry; it will soak into the puff pastry and make it irresistible.
