Butter cookies for the holiday breakfast. What’s better than waking up to the smell of cookies?
Here’s the recipe for making these crumbly and fragrant treats, perfect for the holiday breakfast but ones I actually prepare all year round!
This recipe is very easy and can be made by even beginners. You can also gift them by packaging them perhaps in a bag or even better in a tin box.
Serve them to accompany a cup of hot chocolate, a cappuccino, or even with a simple coffee.

Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter

- Parchment paper

- Plastic wrap
Steps
Place in the planetary mixer or in the bowl of a powerful blender 200 grams of butter in pieces, 100 grams of powdered sugar and a pinch of salt. Mix for about a minute then add the egg. Blend and add the flour. Mix for about 2 minutes then transfer the mixture onto a floured work surface. Compact until you get a soft dough.
Divide the dough in half and form 2 cylinders about 16–18 inches long and place them on a tray.
Melt the remaining butter and brush the surface of the dough pieces. Sprinkle with about 20 grams of powdered sugar and cover with plastic wrap, making sure not to touch the surface.
Transfer to the fridge and let rest for 2 hours.
After this time, preheat the oven to 338°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Take the dough from the fridge and with a knife, cut discs about 1/4 inch thick.
Place them on the baking sheets and bake. Cook for about 15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool.
Our butter cookies are ready. Before serving, dust them with plenty of powdered sugar!
