How to Prepare Homemade Croissants with Delicious Filling
In a bowl, place the flour, sugar, dry yeast, and vanillin. Stir with a spoon.
Add water and oil. Start mixing with a spoon, then continue kneading by hand until you obtain a smooth dough.
Place the dough inside a bowl. Make a cross cut on the surface and let it rise covered with a cloth in a warm place for about 2 hours.
After the rising time, take the dough and divide it into two equal parts.
Roll out one part with a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface, forming a thin circle.
Brush the surface of the circle with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Roll out the second part of the dough, forming another circle of the same size.
Place the second circle on top of the first and press lightly with the rolling pin to make them adhere.
With a knife, cut the double circle into 12 wedges.
Make a small cut in the center of the base of each triangle.
If you wish to fill the croissants, place a teaspoon of Nutella at the base of each triangle.
Roll each triangle onto itself, starting from the base and reaching the tip, forming the croissants.
Place the croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for about an hour and a half.
Brush the surface of the croissants with a little milk. Sprinkle with sugar and bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for about 20 minutes, or until they are golden.
Feel free to serve.
Storage
The freshly baked croissants keep well at room temperature for about 2/3 days, inside a plastic bag to keep them soft. The croissants can be frozen once cooled. They keep in the freezer for about 1/2 months. To defrost them, leave them at room temperature for a few hours and then pass them in a warm oven for a few minutes.
