Steps
A simple treat to make together
These cookies were born on a slow Sunday morning, one of those when Lorenzo studies, and I need to get my hands in the dough to find calm. And when there’s cream, flour, and a pinch of creativity… magic is guaranteed!
Perfect for any occasion, they’re ideal to make with kids, perhaps cutting out shapes together and making the classic hole in the center, like small donuts.
1. Work the butter with the sugar:
In a bowl, mix soft butter and sugar until you get a smooth cream (you can use a spatula or a fork).
2. Add the cream and the yolk:
Pour in the cream and the yolk, mixing well to combine everything.
3. Add the dry ingredients:
Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Knead with your hands until you obtain a soft and smooth dough (not sticky).4. Roll out the dough:
With a rolling pin, roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 5/16 inch.
5. Form the cookies:
Use a cookie cutter or a glass to form discs. Make a hole in the center with a bottle cap or a small cutter.
6. Bake in the oven:
Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 180°C (356°F) for 15-18 minutes. They should lightly brown on the edges.
7. Let cool and enjoy!
Let them cool completely before enjoying (or storing) them.
These cookies are perfect to prepare in advance to always have a ready treat to enjoy. Whether for a sweet snack with the kids, a coffee break, or a relaxing moment on the couch, they store well and retain their fragrance for several days. Let’s see together how to store them best and some tips to personalize them according to your tastes.
Storage: In a tin box or airtight jar for 4-5 days.
Notes: You can add chocolate chips, vanilla, or a zest of lemon peel.
Serving: Perfect to accompany with tea or served with a dusting of powdered sugar.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Can I use cooking cream instead of whipping cream?
Better not. Cooking cream is fattier and saltier: for desserts use whipping cream (plant-based is also fine).
Can they be frozen?
You can freeze the raw dough, already portioned. When needed, bake them directly from frozen, increasing the time by 2 minutes.
