Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pinwheels with Prosciutto

The air fryer puff pastry pinwheels with prosciutto are delicious and perfect to serve with an aperitif or to prepare for a buffet or birthday parties.

We used prosciutto (choose a sweet-tasting type to avoid making the preparation too salty), but you can certainly use any kind of sliced deli meat you prefer.

The air fryer has the advantage of reducing cooking times because it doesn’t need to be preheated, and the food cooks faster because the cooking space is smaller, and the heat doesn’t disperse.

Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pinwheels with Prosciutto
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 7/8 pieces
  • Cooking methods: Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients for the Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pinwheels:

  • 1 sheet rectangular puff pastry
  • 3.5 oz robiola cheese
  • 3.5 oz prosciutto (or other deli meats)
  • 3 tbsps grated Parmesan or Grana cheese
  • to taste black pepper

Tools for the Air Fryer Puff Pastry Pinwheels:

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Knife

Steps for Preparing and Cooking the Puff Pastry Pinwheels in the Air Fryer:

  • In a bowl, mix the robiola cheese with a pinch of black pepper.

Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and spread the robiola cheese evenly with a spatula.

Cover the robiola with prosciutto slices and finish with grated Parmesan cheese; alternatively, you can use grated Grana cheese.

  • Roll up the puff pastry along the long side to form a cylinder, cut it into slices about 1 inch thick; alternatively, you can make them thinner at about 3/4 inch, just consider a few minutes less cooking time.

Place the puff pastry pinwheels on the air fryer rack and cook at 356°F for 15/17 minutes, until they are golden.

Let them cool slightly and serve immediately.

    OVEN COOKING:

Place the pinwheels on a non-stick baking tray or lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 20 minutes, until golden; cooking times also vary depending on the thickness of the pinwheels.

Tips:

If you prepare them for a buffet or a birthday party, you can make them in advance and then put them in the oven for a few minutes before serving; this way, they will seem freshly baked.
