Potatoes are a “side dish” that everyone agrees on: they are loved by both adults and children and pair well with almost any dish. With the air fryer, they become even lighter without losing the crunchiness we love so much. In this recipe, I’ll show you how I prepare crispy potatoes with paprika and oregano: simple, fragrant, and with that irresistible crust that makes you want to eat one after another.
The air fryer allows us to achieve the same goodness as fried or baked potatoes but in less time and with less oil. Try them too, and I assure you they will become a must-have for your dinners.

Ingredients
- 2.2 lbs potatoes
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp sweet/smoked paprika
- to taste salt
Tools
- 1 Air Fryer
- 1 Oil Sprayer
- 1 Knife
- 1 Cutting Board
Preparation
Thoroughly wash the potatoes under running water and scrub them with a dedicated sponge to remove any impurities. Cut them into sticks of your preferred size and soak them for a few minutes. Rinse until the water changes from cloudy to clear. Only then will we be sure the potatoes have lost all the starch.
Dry them well, preheat our air fryer and toss them in. With an oil sprayer, evenly distribute the fat, season them with salt, oregano, and paprika (of the type we prefer), and mix well. At this point, bake at 356°F and let cook for about 8 minutes (depending on the size of the sticks).
After this time, open, shake or flip them, and continue to cook for another 8 minutes.
Serve our Crispy Air Fryer Potatoes with Paprika and Oregano immediately and accompany them with all the sauces that come to mind.
Tips, Variations, and Storage
If any are left over, we can keep them in the fridge in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
Reheat by putting them back in the air fryer to make them crispy again.
Instead of sweet paprika, we can use smoked paprika or chili powder, and instead of oregano, any other fresh or dried aromatic herb.
FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Can I cook them without the skin?
Yes, but with the skin, they remain crunchier and have a more rustic taste.
How much oil do I need for a kilo of potatoes?
Just one tablespoon because in an air fryer, you don’t need to overdo it.
Can I add cheese?
Sure, a sprinkle of grated Parmesan or pecorino at the end of cooking will make them even more delicious.
Is it better to use new potatoes or regular ones?
Both are fine. New potatoes have a thin skin and become even crunchier.
