Ingredients
- 4 cups Manitoba flour
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 tsp salt
How to make balloon bread
Place the flour in a bowl together with the yeast and mix.
Then pour in the water and mix well until a loaf is formed.
Let it rest in a bowl for 25-30 minutes covered with plastic wrap, preferably in the switched-off oven with the light on.
After the resting time, divide the dough into 10 balls of about 3 oz each.
Roll out all the balls with the help of a rolling pin, achieving a thickness of about 1/3 inch. Then let them rest for another 10 minutes.
Bake your balloon bread in the oven at 392°F, as soon as the bread puffs up and turns golden, take it out, it will take about 5-6 minutes.
Storage and tips for baked balloon bread
Baked balloon bread can be stored for a day at room temperature, covered with plastic wrap or inside a food bag. An alternative cooking method could be to cook it in a non-stick pan at a fairly high temperature, without added fats.
