Christmas Star

Christmas is almost here and today I want to share my Christmas star recipe, a savory dish made with cold cuts and cheeses.

A recipe that I had in mind to prepare some time ago, and considering I am a big fan of leavened products, I couldn’t resist making it! This is a recipe I created together with my little Rosa, who loves this shape so much. So, besides the savory Christmas star with puff pastry, we made this leavened one with cold cuts.

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to use cold cuts as a filling, but you can choose based on your taste; I added salami, mortadella, and delicate cheeses like provolone or fontina.

If you don’t have a star-shaped mold at home, you can purchase it by clicking HERE

Now let’s head to the kitchen and prepare this beautiful star together!

Don’t miss these recipes:

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Medium
  • Rest time: 3 Hours
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas

Christmas Star Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 500 Manitoba flour
  • cups milk
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cube fresh yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt (level)
  • 5 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2.8 oz salami
  • 3.5 oz cooked ham
  • 1 smoked provolone

Christmas Star Steps

  • First, take a bowl and add the milk with the yeast. Use a simple fork to mix and dissolve the yeast. Add the vegetable oil and eggs, continue beating for a few minutes. Gradually add the flour and finally the salt. Keep working the entire mixture. Set the mixture aside and start chopping all the cold cuts and the smoked provolone into small cubes on a cutting board. Take the dough again and add the grated Parmesan and the entire filling. Mix everything well.

Take a star-shaped mold and add the mixture. Let it rise in the turned-off oven for 2/3 hours (the rising time varies based on the external temperature). Once the dough has reached the edges, bake in the preheated oven at 340°F for 15 minutes and at 320°F for another 15 minutes.

  • Take this beautiful star out of the oven and serve it.
