Pesto Pinwheels Rolls

Pesto pinwheels rolls are great as appetizers, finger food, or for a quick snack with a toast. Just two ingredients, no more, making them is child’s play and cooking them takes just a little over 15 minutes, they’re showstoppers! Today the market offers us so many possibilities in the kitchen that sometimes you can use ingredients like puff pastry without the hassle of preparing it. In September, after returning from vacation, I harvest the basil that has grown and strengthened by then. With this basil, I make an extraordinary pesto, and it’s not just me who says it, I freeze it already portioned, writing the weight on the label, and of course, I use it during the winter, and it’s a real pleasure.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 90 g Genoese pesto

Tools

  • Spatula
  • Baking Tray

Steps

  • Parchment paper is not needed, it’s already in the puff pastry roll, I used the rectangular one for convenience. Unroll it and

  • only on one half lengthwise spread the Genoese pesto, I had it in the freezer and took it out 4 hours before.

  • Fold the puff pastry over the pesto and seal it.

  • Form a large rectangle and cut it into strips

  • roll the puff pastry strips on themselves with the pesto inside.

  • put them back on the parchment paper, they will look like small pinwheels.

  • Bake them at 375°F for 15 minutes

  • And here they are ready, the pesto pinwheels rolls

My name is Pina, and my passion is food and cooking in general. On the blog, I focus on regional dishes like those from my birthplace, Sicily. I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
