Puff Pastry Swirls with Strawberry Jam

Today, a sweet recipe: puff pastry swirls with strawberry jam.

More than a recipe, this is an idea because it’s so simple to make. Sometimes I get that craving for something sweet and tasty but without the desire to bake cakes or my beloved cookies, so I resort to an extremely easy and super delicious preparation. Nothing simpler: a sheet of puff pastry, jam, and straight into the oven!

Puff pastry always solves everything: crispy and irresistible with its unmatched taste and golden hazelnut color, the sublime aroma that, combined with the jam, makes this treat a true masterpiece.

I used strawberry jam and accompanied my dessert with fresh strawberries, but you can use any jam you like or even a spreadable cream, perhaps homemade.

Now let’s see together, step by step, how to create this simple recipe.

Ingredients for 12 Strawberry Swirls

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 4 tablespoons strawberry jam
  • to taste brown sugar (optional)

Tools

  • 1 Pastry Wheel
  • 1 Baking Tray

Let’s Prepare Puff Pastry Swirls with Strawberries

  • Take the puff pastry and unroll it, place it on the work surface vertically. Spread the strawberry jam on the top half, then take the bottom half and fold it over the jam side.

  • With a sharp knife or a pastry wheel, cut 12 strips of more or less the same size. I first divided them in half and then into strips. Once you have the pastry strips, take one, gently stretch it, and roll it by twisting one hand forward and the other backward to achieve the ‘twist’ effect.

  • Place the twisted strips on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or with a mat and create the swirl. Place the starting point down and wrap around. If desired, sprinkle with a pinch of brown sugar.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 25 minutes, as each oven bakes differently, I suggest checking after 20 minutes. The swirls should be golden on top and bottom.

Take them out of the oven and let them cool before enjoying. In the meantime, take a photo of your puff pastry swirls with jam and post it on social media tagging me (una riccia che pasticcia on instagram and facebook) and show me which jam you used.
