Homemade Peanut Spread, not to be confused with peanut butter, is made simply with one ingredient: peanuts. They are usually lightly toasted, but I prefer them natural so that the flavor of the spread is as delicate as possible, since the taste will still be intense. You can use it with both sweet and savory dishes because the flavor is so neutral that you can manage it as you see fit. Moreover, peanuts bring many benefits to our bodies because they contain minerals, vitamins, folic acid, and are excellent natural antioxidants. However, do not overdo it because they are quite caloric, but eat them often. Even in this case, when I get my hands dirty, I never make small quantities because I love having a small stock to manage throughout the year. So once the spread is made, I divide it into various glass jars and preserve it. If you want to know more about the water bath process, done safely, take a look at Homemade Preserves.

Ingredients
- 7 oz shelled peanuts
Tools
- 1 Blender
- 1 Spatula silicone
Preparation
Shell the peanuts, remove the skin, and after weighing them, pour them into the blender. Make sure it is a blender and not a food processor, because otherwise it will be impossible to obtain a spread. After making this mistake, I proceeded by putting everything in the blender.
Blend at maximum speed, occasionally stopping to detach the peanuts from the sides of the blender with a silicone spatula. Continue this operation until you have obtained a spread.
Once ready, store it in an airtight glass container and keep it in the refrigerator. If the oil separates from the spread, just stir it to reblend it.
Serve our Homemade Peanut Spread with both sweet and savory preparations
Tips
The peanut spread keeps very well in the fridge for several days, but inside an airtight container.
Discard plastic ones because they are harmful to our health.
For medium-term storage, we can freeze it in small portions so that we don’t have to defrost an entire jar.
As always, I recommend defrosting in the fridge and never at room temperature.
