  • In a non-stick pan, add the diced apples, sugar, butter pieces, water, grated zest of an untreated lemon, and cinnamon to taste.

  • Move to the stove and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until the apples are soft and the liquids have evaporated.

  • Take one dough piece and roll it out with a rolling pin on a lightly floured parchment paper. You should get a sort of rectangle.

  • Evenly distribute half of the apple mixture on the dough. Also add the chocolate chips.

  • With the help of the parchment paper, roll up the rectangle.

  • Cut the roll into slices. (about 10). Slightly press each swirl with your hands on a floured surface. Bring the closure edge underneath, so the swirls don’t open during cooking. Continue the same way with the remaining dough.

  • In a small glass, pour a splash of milk (about 2 tbsp), and some ground cinnamon to taste. Mix.

  • Place the swirls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the swirls with the milk and cinnamon, and sprinkle with granulated sugar.

  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 355°F and cook for about 25/30 minutes. Be sure to check the cooking times based on your oven.

  • Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and enjoy.
