Microwaved Onion Frittata in a Jar

The microwaved onion frittata in a jar is a light and quick version to cook the frittata using jar-cooking in the microwave. All you need is a 500 ml jar, 2 eggs, 4 small sautéed green onions, and a few other ingredients, resulting in a light and tasty frittata cooked in a jar. As explained in the jar-cooking instructions, the frittata, like all egg recipes, will be cooked at half power compared to the tested power. I cooked it at 300 watts, allowing the eggs to cook at low temperature in the microwave.

Today I offer you the recipe for the microwaved onion frittata in a jar in a restored version. The first version dates back to January 2016, and I smile thinking about how much I have evolved this technique.

Now, ready, jars, and let’s make the best microwaved onion frittata in a jar there is!

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 10 pine nuts
  • 2 pinches salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

What You’ll Need

  • 1 Microwave Tray

How to Make the Frittata in a Jar in the Microwave

  • Clean the green onions, wash, and slice them. Distribute them in the tray, season with a pinch of salt, and spray with a little oil. Sauté for 2 minutes at the highest microwave power.

  • Crack the eggs into the jar, add a pinch of salt and pepper, pine nuts, milk, and beat. Add the sautéed green onions and mix.

  • Clean the edges of the jar, close, and secure with 4 clamps. Place the jar in the microwave and start cooking for 5 minutes at half power, I used 300 watts.

After cooking, let the frittata rest in the closed jar for at least 10 minutes. This will complete the egg cooking.

Afterwards, you can gently pull the seal and enjoy, or let the onion frittata jar cool, place it in the refrigerator, where it will keep for a week.
