Caramelized Pears with a Hint of Lemon

Caramelized Pears with a Hint of Lemon, this is a dessert that takes about 10 minutes to cook. Delicious warm during the colder parts of the year, possibly accompanied by fresh whipped cream. Also excellent when it’s warmer, served with delicious vanilla ice cream. A delight to enjoy all year round. Furthermore, the caramelized pears can also be used to fill cakes, crepes, or whatever you desire. Quick and super easy, suitable even for those who have little experience in the kitchen but want to make a good impression. If you have some time available, I also recommend preserving them, so you have them ready if needed at the last moment. Caramelized Pears with a Hint of Lemon
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 2 pears
  • Cooking methods: Stove
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Fall, Winter

Ingredients

  • 2 medium pears
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • Half lemon juice

Tools

  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Lemon Squeezer
  • 1 Strainer
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Bowl

Preparation

Cut the pears in half, remove the core, peel them, and slice into pieces about 5/8 inch thick.

Immediately place them in a bowl and drizzle with the juice of half a lemon, not only to flavor but also to prevent browning (oxidation). Arrange them in a non-stick pan, add the sugar and cook over medium heat, covering with a lid.

As soon as they take on a golden color, uncover and finish the cooking. At the end of cooking, the pears should not fall apart but remain rather firm.

Serve our Caramelized Pears with a Hint of Lemon, either warm or at room temperature, and optionally decorate with fresh mint leaves.

Tips

Caramelized pears can be stored in the refrigerator for several days, as they are imbued with sugar (a great natural preservative).

However, place them in an airtight container, whether glass or ceramic, never plastic.

I do not recommend freezing them because they would lose all their texture, but alternatively, you can preserve them.
