Strawberry French Toast

Strawberry French toast, soft, creamy and slightly caramelized on the surface: a real treat, easy to prepare but capable of surprising.

This version is one of my favorites because it combines the creaminess of fresh cream cheese with the sweetness of strawberry jam, enclosed between two slices of soft sandwich bread. The whole is then dipped in a simple batter made of egg, milk, and brown sugar and cooked in a pan with a pat of butter, until achieving that perfect and irresistible golden brown. To complete the dish, fresh strawberries seasoned with sugar and lemon juice: a light and fragrant topping, which gives an extra touch of freshness and color.

These sweet strawberry stuffed toasts are ideal to serve for breakfast or brunch, maybe on the weekend, when you have a bit more time to enjoy the slowness. But they are also perfect as a summer snack, especially if accompanied by a cup of iced tea or a shaken coffee.

Moreover, they are prepared in just a few minutes and with simple ingredients, which we often already have at home. If you love strawberries and are looking for an easy and quick sweet recipe that tastes like spring and sunshine, this is the one for you.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • Can I use a different type of bread other than sandwich bread?

Yes! Brioche bread or pan bauletto also works great for this recipe. The important thing is that they are soft slices and not too thin, so they can hold the filling and batter well.

  • Is it possible to replace the cream cheese?

Of course. You can use well-drained ricotta, mascarpone, or even thick Greek yogurt for a lighter version. Each alternative will give a different nuance to the final taste.

  • How to store any leftovers?

Once cooked, strawberry French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for one day, in an airtight container. You can reheat them in a pan or in the oven to make them crispy again.
