Hot Chocolate to Gift in a Jar

Hot Chocolate to Gift in a Jar, an idea different from the usual Christmas trinkets we don’t know what to do with. For some years now, I prefer to gift handmade items to my friends and family, except for the children, whether they are edible or not. This recipe is really very simple and quick to make, even in its packaging. Moreover, the idea of having hot chocolate at hand, maybe to share with a friend who comes to visit unexpectedly, without having to make it from scratch, is very useful. Of these ready-to-cook powders that cheer up my winter days, I always have a stock in the pantry: sweets, buns, hot drinks.

I also make soaps for personal care, household soaps, in short, I self-produce many things, which are then very cute to give as gifts.

Here are links to some Christmas recipes you can make right away:

Hot Chocolate to Gift in a Jar
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 cups
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, Winter

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 cups water or cow/plant-based milk

Tools

  • 1 Jar 10.5 oz
  • 1 Small pot
  • 4 Cups

Preparation

If we want to turn our hot chocolate into a gift, we need a glass jar with an airtight seal. We’ll layer the dry ingredients according to our taste because there is no specific order. In this case, I started with a portion of sugar, then a portion of unsweetened cocoa, and all the cornstarch.

I continued with more sugar, unsweetened cocoa, and only at the end did I add the roughly chopped dark chocolate. Once the jar is filled, we can close and label it, describing all the ingredients with their respective quantities and the expiration date that we might derive from the foods used. As for the procedure, we will put a note aside. In the description, we also remember that it must be stored in a dark and dry place.

At this point, all that remains is to drink our hot chocolate. Pour the water or milk, either cow or plant-based, into a small pot and add all the powder mixture. Use a whisk to mix all the ingredients and to eliminate any lumps.

Place on the stove over medium-low heat and stir continuously until you get the consistency you like best.

Serve immediately your Hot Chocolate to Gift in a Jar, distributing it into 4 cups and accompanying it with some dry cookies.

Tips

Hot chocolate can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days and can be reheated for a few seconds even in the microwave.

Store it in a glass or ceramic container so that it does not come into contact with toxic substances like plastic.

Depending on the expiration of the ingredients we used, the chocolate powder in the jar could last more than a year.
