This morning I wanted something simple yet tasty for breakfast and remembered my beloved sweet butter rolls! But instead of turning on the oven with this heat, I tried the version in the air fryer… and what a surprise! Super soft, golden just right, and ready in no time.
They are perfect to enjoy as is, but also to fill with jam, chocolate spread, Nutella, or honey. Also ideal for kids’ snacks or to take out, perhaps on a trip or to school.
The recipe is very easy: you’ll need flour, butter, eggs, milk, and yeast. Mix everything in a few minutes, form the balls and off they go into the air fryer. The result? Soft sweet rolls, fragrant and light, similar to homemade chocolate chip buns (you can also add chocolate chips!).

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast for savory preparations
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 egg
Steps
Pour the flours into a bowl, add the yeast and sugar, mix in the butter pieces and egg, knead well, add water or milk and finish kneading.
Let it rest for 30 minutes.
After the time, take the dough and divide it into 6 pieces, work each piece and form balls, place them in the fryer basket.
Cook at 350°F for 7 minutes, check and proceed for another 7 minutes.
