What you need for Homemade Chocolate Bread

  • 2/3 cups milk
  • 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cups butter (room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 cups Manitoba flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2/3 cups chocolate chips (dark chocolate, chilled)
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp milk

Tools

  • 1 Bowl bowl
  • 1 Spatula 1
  • 1 Baking tray non-stick baking tray
  • 1 Rolling board wooden rolling board
  • 1 Parchment paper parchment paper
  • 1 Brush brushing brush

Steps

  • Dough preparation: Start by putting one tablespoon of sugar from the total amount into the warm milk, along with 1 tsp of active dry yeast or 10 g of fresh yeast.
Mix well and add to 2 1/2 cups of Manitoba flour or all-purpose flour.

Start absorbing the milk into the flour.

Add a slightly beaten egg, and while mixing, also add
    the remaining sugar
the butter and a pinch of salt

Work the dough until all the ingredients are well combined
and a soft and elastic dough has formed.

Put it in a container and let it rise until doubled in volume.
    About two hours.

  • Shaping the buns: Deflate the dough and put the chilled chocolate chips in the center
and knead until they are all incorporated.

Add the chips afterward so they won’t melt during rising.
Take the dough, roll it out and cut into pieces weighing about 2-3 oz each

Form into balls and place them spaced apart on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper
and let rise again for about 30-40 minutes

  • Cooking: Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 340°F (ventilated) or 355°F (static)

In a small glass, mix one egg yolk with a tablespoon of milk
beat well and brush with a brush.

Bake until the chocolate bread is golden, about 30 minutes.
    Always do the toothpick test.

And now you just have to taste them, soft and delicious, you won’t be able to do without them anymore.
    Enjoy your snack!
