Broccoli and potato gratin, a delicious yet very easy dish to prepare, which can be served as a main course or a rich side dish. The recipe is very easy, just boil the broccoli and potatoes for a few minutes, then bake them with béchamel, Parmesan, and breadcrumbs. I added some diced bacon, but you can omit it if you prefer. The gratinated potatoes and broccoli are really tasty and appetizing, with their crunchy crust… try them too!

Ingredients
- 1 broccoli
- 2 potatoes
- 7 oz béchamel sauce
- 2 oz smoked bacon (diced)
- 1 tbsp grated Grana Padano
- 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- pepper

Preparation
Clean the broccoli by separating the florets and wash them under running water.
Wash and peel the potatoes, cut them into slices about 0.5 inches thick.
Boil the broccoli and potatoes in salted boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and let them cool for a few minutes.
Take a baking dish and grease it with a thin layer of béchamel.
Add the potatoes and broccoli, overlapping them as little as possible. Season with salt, pepper, and a light drizzle of oil (1).
Distribute the diced bacon and cover with béchamel (2).
Finally, sprinkle the surface with Grana Padano and breadcrumbs (3).
Place everything in a ventilated oven at 356-374°F and bake for about 25 minutes. If necessary, you can turn on the grill for the last few minutes.
When a little crust forms, turn off the oven and take it out.
The broccoli and potato gratin is ready to be served at the table… enjoy your meal!
Tips and Variations
You can use classic green broccoli or cauliflower (white or colored) or Romanesco broccoli.
The bacon can be omitted, or replaced with cooked ham, speck, or sautéed sausage.
You can enrich the dish by adding diced provola.
You can steam the broccoli and potatoes instead of boiling them.
