Halloween Skull Treats

On the scariest night of the year, never be without treats! Especially to welcome the costumed children who will knock on my door, as they do every year. Are you getting ready? What do you think about making Halloween Skull Treats? Simple and quick, they are well-loved by kids and are very easy to prepare with just a few ingredients, and voilà, you’re done. Let’s see what we need to prepare these simple treats for our “trick or treat”?

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Cooking time: 30 Minutes
  • Portions: 6/8
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Ready-made puff pastry
  • as needed Nutella®
  • as needed Smarties or chocolate bonbons
  • 1 egg yolk (beaten)
  • as needed Dark chocolate

Preparation

  • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it using a Halloween-shaped cutter, which you can find in baking stores. Alternatively, if you can’t find a skull cutter, you can change the subject or download a design from the web and trace it onto cardboard. Place the cardboard on the pastry and cut out the skull shape. To make a single treat, you need two cutouts. On the second cutout, which will be placed on top, you need to create the eyes. “You just need a round cutter or a small cap.” Now start by placing the Nutella on the first skull, adjust the amount yourself but don’t overdo it, or it will ooze out during baking. Take the second cutout and gently place it on top, sealing the edges with light pressure from your fingers. Brush the entire skull with beaten egg.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 30 minutes, until golden. “Always follow the instructions of your oven.” Once ready, place the Smarties to finish the eye circles and use melted chocolate “melt it in the microwave” to draw the nose and mouth.

  • I hope you liked this recipe… Don’t miss the next one, see you soon 🙂

Notes

You can make the skulls a day in advance and store them in a glass container. When serving, just heat them for a couple of minutes in the oven, add the eyes, and draw the nose and mouth.
The filling can also be made with jam.
