Ingredients for Easter Honey Rings
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 5 1/2 tbsp butter (soft)
- 2 eggs (medium size)
- 3 1/2 tbsp partially skimmed milk
- Half packet baking powder
- 1 orange zest (grated)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- as needed acacia honey
- as needed sugar sprinkles (colored)
You will need
- Bowl
- Parchment paper
- Brush
- Cooling rack
Prepare the Easter Honey Rings
In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar, then add the butter and flavors, and continue mixing. Add the milk, flour, and baking powder, then turn the dough onto the work surface; if needed, add a little flour, knead by hand to form a dough ball and wrap it in parchment paper. Place it in the fridge to set for a couple of hours.
The dough is ready to make braided Easter rings. Take a bit of the dough and roll it into a cord, fold it in half, twist it into a braid, then close the ends to form a ring. Place the rings on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 350°F for about 15 minutes.
Once baked, let them cool on a cookie rack. Meanwhile, heat some honey in the microwave and brush it on the rings, then sprinkle with colored sugar sprinkles.
