Soft Orange Pound Cake

The soft orange pound cake recipe is very quick. I used my Thermomix, just like for the Thermomix soft pound cake with chocolate chips. If you don’t have this magnificent robot, don’t worry: you can also prepare it with electric whisks.
This pound cake is amazing, so fragrant that you won’t be able to resist trying a slice, Perfect for breakfast and delicious for a snack, you can serve it with a dusting of powdered sugar or cover it with a delicious orange glaze.

Ingredients for the Thermomix Soft Orange Pound Cake

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup potato starch
  • 4 eggs
  • 7/8 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 tbsp whole milk
  • 2/3 cup sunflower oil
  • 2 oranges (juiced)
  • 2 orange zest (grated)
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 orange (juice)

You will need

  • Food Processor
  • Pound Cake Pan

Preparing the Soft Orange Pound Cake

  • Place the sugar and orange zest in the Thermomix bowl and blend for 10 seconds at speed 7, open the lid and use a spatula to scrape down towards the bottom.

  • Add the flour, potato starch, eggs, oil, orange juice, milk, and baking powder and blend for 30 seconds at speed 7.

  • Pour into a greased and floured pound cake pan, or you can use homemade release agent HERE for the recipe, and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F. Do the toothpick test to ensure it’s cooked.

  • In a bowl, beat the eggs with sugar and grated orange zest using an electric mixer until the mixture is frothy. Add the oil, orange juice, milk, and continue to mix at medium speed, fold in the flours and baking powder with a spatula to avoid deflating the batter.

    Pour into a greased and floured pound cake pan, or you can use homemade release agent HERE for the recipe and bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 350°F. Do the toothpick test to ensure it’s cooked. Let it cool completely before removing from the pan.

  • In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar and orange juice with a whisk until smooth. If it’s too runny, add a little more powdered sugar. Pour it over the pound cake and let it set for at least an hour before serving.

How to Store the Soft Orange Pound Cake

You can keep it under a cake dome for up to 4 days.
