The orange bread is a typical Sicilian dessert like the brioche col tuppo, characterized by a wonderful and intense orange fragrance. In fact, the recipe includes the addition of a whole organic orange, with skin, seedless, to prevent these from giving the orange bread a bitter taste.
The recipe is easy and quick, you just need a mixer, I used my Bimby, and in three simple steps we bake our dessert. What can I say, it’s a soft, moist cake, perfect for breakfast, a snack, or a delicious treat. I prepared the orange bread for a dinner with friends and it was very appreciated and very successful. Ingredients for the Orange Bread
- 2 cups oranges
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sunflower oil
- 1/3 cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 package baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparing the Orange Bread
Wash the oranges, cut them into wedges and remove the seeds. Place them in the Bimby jug and blend for 40 seconds at speed 6
Open the lid and blend for another 10 seconds if the oranges have not turned into a puree.
Add the milk, sunflower oil, and eggs. Blend for 40 seconds at speed 4
Add the flour, sugar, and baking powder and blend for 1 minute at speed 5.
Pour the mixture into the pan, previously greased and floured, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 40/45 minutes, perform the toothpick test to verify cooking.
Our dessert is ready, let it cool well before removing it from the mold, sprinkle it with powdered sugar, and you can taste it!
Storage
The orange bread should be stored covered with a cake dome for 3/4 days.
