Lentil Cream with Pressure Cooker

The lentil cream with the pressure cooker, a quick and easy recipe perfect for serving on cold winter days.

Compared to the classic version of the peeled lentil cream, this version with the pressure cooker cooks in just 8 minutes from the pot’s whistle compared to the 35/40 minutes of the classic version, saving a considerable amount of time and gas.

For the making of this recipe, we used the pressure cooker  Lagostina Irradial Control Lagoeasy’Up, 5 L, 22 cm .

Lentil Cream with Pressure Cooker
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 servings
  • Cooking methods: Pressure Cooker
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, Winter

Ingredients for the lentil cream with pressure cooker:

  • 8.8 oz red peeled lentils
  • 3.4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp fine salt (generous)

Tools for the lentil cream cooked in the pressure cooker:

  • 1 Pressure Cooker
  • 1 Wooden Spoon

Steps for the preparation and cooking of the lentil cream:

  • For this recipe, we recommend using peeled lentils; they have the advantage of not needing to be soaked in water before use and during cooking they dissolve into a cream without using an immersion blender or mixer.

Wash the lentils well, drain them, and place them in the pressure cooker, add 3.4 cups of vegetable broth or alternatively water, then season with salt.

Stir the ingredients well, cover the pressure cooker with its lid then put the valve on the pot image, place it on medium-high heat, when the red valve rises (it means the pot is under pressure) lower the heat and cook for 7 minutes.

  • After the time, turn off the heat and release the steam slowly, when the red valve lowers remove the pot lid.

Stir the cream well with a wooden spoon, you will see that the peeled lentils have melted.

If you find the preparation too dry, add a little more broth until you get the desired consistency.

    Season with salt.

  • Serve in individual dishes, if you like, add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some croutons.

  • COOKING WITH THE MULTICOOKER:

The cooking times and ingredients remain unchanged, use the pressure cooking program.

Advice

If you wish, you can also add a previously peeled and halved potato to the preparation. After cooking, remove the potato from the pot and mash it well with a fork, then add it to the lentil cream and stir well.
