Christmas Tree Savory Pie

Today, a savory recipe for the holiday appetizer: Christmas Tree Savory Pie.

An easy and quick savory pie with bacon, asiago cheese, and black olives, dressed up for Christmas to bring to the table a scenic appetizer or aperitif, beautifully presented but easy to make. This savory pie is very versatile because you can change the meats and cheeses with those you prefer or have available, making it a convenient fridge-clearing option.

I used sweet diced bacon and diced asiago cheese mixed quickly with the other ingredients, and the dough is ready to be put in the oven just like the savory pie with cooked ham or the egg-free speck plumcake.

Preparing a savory pie for the appetizer or the aperitif buffet is very convenient because we can prepare it in advance and use it when needed. I used tree-shaped molds, but you can make stars or a single pie and then cut it.

Let’s see together, step by step, how to make this recipe.

Let’s Start!

  • We prepare all the ingredients to assemble, so on a cutting board, we put the bacon and cut it into small cubes, do the same with the asiago cheese, then cut the black olives into small pieces or slices (set some aside for decoration). Set everything aside.

  • In a bowl, we put the sifted flour with grated Parmesan cheese and yeast for savory pies and mix, then add the eggs, milk, and vegetable oil and mix with a spatula to make the dough homogeneous.

  • Pour the bacon, cheese, and previously cut olives into the dough obtained so far and mix, add half a teaspoon of salt and a grind of pepper and mix everything quickly.

  • Pour the dough into the paper molds, using a spoon or spatula to cover all parts of the tree, and decorate with the black olive slices set aside, then bake in a preheated oven at 340°F for 30 or 35 minutes.

  • Let cool slightly before unmolding, meanwhile take a photo of your Christmas Tree Savory Pie and post it on social media tagging me (una riccia che pasticcia instagram and facebook) and let me know if you also made trees or stars.
