The Heart-shaped Pizza is a fancy, romantic, and delicious variation of the classic homemade pizza! The pizza dough is so versatile that we can get creative and make many different pizzas in terms of toppings and shapes! We can use either a heart-shaped mold or shape it by hand until we get the desired form!
The preparation is very simple: spread the pizza dough on a heart-shaped baking sheet or shape it by hand to create a heart and top it as desired. We chose tomato sauce seasoned with salt, oregano, and oil, slices of mortadella, and baked it at 428°F for about 20 minutes. Then we added mozzarella and baked it for another 5 minutes. Out of the oven, we finished with stracciatella and chopped pistachios.
We chose the base of the no-knead pizza, very easy and versatile. However, many types of dough suit this recipe well, such as whole grain, spelt flour, long fermentation, etc. Similarly, you can customize the toppings according to your preferences! - 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.7 cups water
- 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 0.25 oz fresh yeast (or 1 tsp of dry yeast)

- 7 oz mortadella with pistachios
- 5 oz pizza mozzarella
- 5 oz stracciatella
- chopped pistachios
- oregano

Steps to prepare the Heart-shaped Pizza
Begin by preparing the base following the recipe with video and photos found here: NO-KNEAD PIZZA (or alternatively Spelt Flour Pizza, gluten-free, long fermentation, or whole grain.) Line a heart-shaped baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it well and spread the pizza dough. Top it with tomato sauce, salt, oregano, and oil.
Distribute the mortadella slices on the surface. Bake the pizza in the lower part of the oven at 428°F for about 15 minutes.
Remove the pizza from the oven and distribute the mozzarella (grated or pizza mozzarella or Fior di Latte well drained from its liquid). Return to the oven for another 5 minutes.
Out of the oven, distribute the stracciatella and chopped pistachios over the pizza.
