The apple cake with chocolate chips is perfect for breakfast and snack time. A delicious cake, made with few ingredients. It’s butter-free and perfect at any time of the day.

I used plain yogurt for the preparation, but if you prefer, you can use Greek yogurt or lactose-free yogurt.

If you don’t like chocolate chips, you can omit them. And if you like, you can flavor it with cinnamon or lemon zest.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 2.8 oz sugar
  • 1 container plain natural yogurt
  • 3.5 tbsp sunflower seed oil
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup potato starch
  • 1 packet baking powder for desserts
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 apple

How to Make Apple Cake with Chocolate Chips

  • In a bowl, add the eggs and sugar. Mix with the electric mixer until the mixture is fluffy and frothy.

  • Add the oil, milk, and yogurt. Mix with the electric mixer.

  • Add the flour, baking powder, and potato starch. (Set aside 3 tablespoons of flour). Mix with the electric mixer.

  • In a bowl, add the three tablespoons of flour set aside and the chocolate chips. Mix with a spoon. Add everything to the batter and mix with a spoon.

  • Pour the batter into a 8×8 inch mold previously greased and floured.

  • Peel and slice the apple and arrange the slices on the batter. If desired, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. This will create a golden crust.

  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F and cook for about 35 minutes. Check the cooking times according to your oven.

  • Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and if desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  • Serve and enjoy.
