  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Summer

Ingredients

  • 5.6 oz pasta (penne (I used), farfalle, …)
  • 5.3 oz cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 5 cherry tomatoes (red)
  • 5 yellow cherry tomatoes
  • 10 Taggiasca olives
  • 1 small can tuna (small)
  • to taste oregano
  • basil (fresh)
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt

Tools

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Immersion Blender

Steps

  • First, put a pot with plenty of water on the stove and bring it to a boil. When the water boils, add the penne (or the short pasta shape you prefer) and cook them al dente for at least 9 – 10 minutes (according to the instructions on the box).

  • While the pasta is cooking, prepare the dressing.

  • Put the Philadelphia in the immersion blender container, add 4 – 5 tablespoons of the pasta’s cooking water (about 50 g), the tomato sauce, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and a bit of salt. Blend everything to obtain a smooth and silky cream, it should not be too dry. If it is, add a bit more water.

  • Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and place it in a serving dish, dress it with extra virgin olive oil, mix, and let it cool.

  • Meanwhile, cut the olives into rings and the cherry tomatoes into wedges, and place them on a plate; dress them with olive oil, salt, and oregano.

  • Add the cream cheese dressing to the pasta, mix well, then add the drained tuna, and finally the cherry tomatoes and olives. Finish with fresh basil leaves and serve immediately or keep in the refrigerator until serving.

  • Here is the Pasta Salad with Cherry Tomatoes, Tuna, and Cream Cheese ready. Enjoy your meal.

Did you know that…

This is how pasta doesn’t stick. If you want the pasta not to stick and be perfectly cooked, don’t pour it all at once into the boiling water, but a little at a time, so the water keeps boiling and the cooking is even. Remember to stir regularly throughout the process.
