The crunchy sandwich with Cheddar, walnuts, and honey is my proposal for the now regular meeting with the Club of 27. For years, every month, we have prepared recipes together from books that have particularly impressed us.
This month, the recipes are from Quick and Easy Panini Press Cookbook by Kathy Strahs, which teaches you how to use your grill or panini press with simple techniques and easy, quick recipes suitable for any situation, from chicken and beef meals to vegetarian and vegan delights.
This book offers sandwich ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and dessert to please the whole family, like a meal or a quick midday snack.
The choice is really endless, with many proposed recipes, and I chose a very simple sandwich with three simple ingredients that together form a perfect marriage: cheese, walnuts, and honey.
You can find all the book’s recipes on the MTChallenge website.

Ingredients for the Crunchy Sandwich with Cheddar, Walnuts, and Honey
- 8 slices white sandwich bread
- 7 oz cheese (aged Cheddar slices)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp honey (I use mountain wildflower)
- 1 oz walnuts (chopped)
Tools
- Electric Panini Press
Preparation of the Crunchy Sandwich with Cheddar, Walnuts, and Honey
In a small bowl, mix the chopped walnuts, butter, and honey until well combined.
Spread a layer of walnut butter and honey on four slices of bread. Evenly sprinkle the Cheddar cheese on all slices and close with the remaining slices of bread.
Heat the panini press well and cook the sandwiches until perfectly golden and the cheese becomes soft and stringy.
