I bought the cooking magazine “La cucina italiana” which celebrates Donald Duck’s birthday and the weekly Topolino, proposing and cooking the Donald’s Duck pancakes, soft and very quick pancakes that I generously drenched in maple syrup, because the batter is very little sweet!
This birthday reminds me that when I was small every Sunday my father Luigi (missing you so much) used to buy me Topolino, which I believe is still widely read by children today.
With Topolino there was the whole gang of uncles, nephews etc., and among them could not miss Grandma Duck, a home cook who also prepared pancakes for the nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
With my son, instead, we watched Topolino on TV and there was a jingle, a refrain that still sticks in our minds as TISCA TUSCA TOPOLINO!!!!!!!!

The Donald’s Duck pancakes are very soft, prepared in 5 minutes and cooked in a few minutes by cooking them on both sides very, very quickly!
Instead of maple syrup, we can sprinkle the little pancakes with powdered sugar, but personally, I recommend adding a few tablespoons of jam or chocolate/hazelnut/pistachio cream as desired.

Ingredients for DONALD’S DUCK PANCAKES
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (I prefer corn oil)
- 1 egg (large)
- 1 teaspoon butter
- as needed maple syrup
- as needed powdered sugar
- as needed fresh fruit (to taste)

FOR THE PREPARATION OF DONALD’S DUCK PANCAKES
In a bowl put the vegetable oil, egg, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, and milk.
In a second bowl put the sifted flour with the instant baking powder and a pinch of salt if desired.
Mix the two different mixtures together to obtain a smooth and homogeneous cream, and you can use a whisk or a spoon, your choice!
In a pan, melt a small knob of butter and pour a ladle of batter over medium-low heat.
When you see small bubbles forming on the surface, you can flip the Donald Duck pancakes and finish cooking in a few more minutes.
Continue until the batter is finished, then arrange on a serving plate with fresh fruit to taste and more maple syrup or honey or… whatever you want!
