Ingredients for Caramelized Pears with White Wine
- 2 pears
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 oz Greek yogurt (vanilla-flavored)
- to taste crushed walnuts
Steps
In a pan that can hold the halved pears, melt the sugar with the white wine and the cinnamon powder.
It should come to a boil over low heat.
Meanwhile, wash, dry, and cut the pears in half, remove the core with a teaspoon.
When the wine and sugar syrup comes to a boil, immerse the pears with the cut side down.
Keep them softening for at least 10 minutes over low heat, then turn them gently.
Finish cooking for another 5 or 6 minutes.
Once the pears are soft and the syrup is nice and thick and brown, remove them from the pan, arrange them on the serving plate.
Drizzle them with the cooking syrup, decorate with the yogurt and sprinkle with crushed walnuts.
They are also delicious just warm.

If you’ve prepared more, store them in an airtight container for 1 day in the refrigerator.
If you have a pastry bag, use it with a star nozzle to decorate the caramelized pears with white wine.
If you don’t want to use white wine, you can make the syrup with water and sugar, maintaining the proportions.
If you don’t have walnuts or can’t eat them, replace them with the nuts of your choice.
If the syrup is too thick or too little, thin it with a tiny bit of water before drizzling it over the pears.
