Ingredients
- 2.2 lbs plums
- 3 apples
- 1 lemon (juiced)
- 2.5 cups sugar
Tools
- Knife
- Cutting Board
- Pot
- Wooden Spoon
- Jars
- Lids for jars
Steps
Start by washing the plums and apples thoroughly.
Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into pieces.
Slice the plums in half and remove the pit.
Place the chopped plums and apples in a large pot with the lemon juice and sugar. Stir well to distribute the sugar evenly.
Turn on the stove to medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
To check the consistency, you can perform the cold plate test: place a small plate in the freezer for a few minutes, then pour a teaspoon of jam on it. If the jam sets and doesn’t run, it’s ready.
Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal them tightly with the lids. Turn the jars upside down and let them cool completely to form the vacuum seal.
This plum and apple jam will be delicious spread on toasted bread, cookies, or used as a cheese accompaniment. Enjoy!
