The Crostini with Shrimp and Flower Butter, are delicious and very easy to prepare, but you need a bit of patience and some available time, but not too much. In any case, this recipe needs to be prepared 4 days in advance because since the shrimp will be eaten raw, they need to be frozen for at least 92 hours. The butter, on the other hand, should first be softened, then worked with the flowers, shaped, and put back in the fridge to firm up. So it’s a slightly long process, but absolutely not difficult to make, suitable even for those less experienced in the kitchen, don’t be intimidated. They can be served as an appetizer, in small portions, or as a main course if you want to eat them in abundance. The lemon zest, added at the end, gives the crostini a lot of freshness. How to Prepare Crostini with Shrimp and Flower Butter

First, remove the head and shell from the red shrimp, and finally, with the help of a toothpick, also remove the intestine.

Wash them under running water, dry them, place them on a plate, cover them with plastic wrap, and place them in the freezer for 4 days.

In the meantime, prepare the butter: once it is well softened (like pomade), put it in a bowl and add the petals of the edible flowers.

Mix well and place the mixture inside a sheet of parchment paper.

Form a cylinder, close the butter as if it were candy, and put it back in the fridge until ready to use.

After 92 hours, remove the shrimp from the freezer and let them thaw in the refrigerator.

Remember that it will take at least a day for them to thaw completely.

Once everything is ready, cut the sandwich bread slices in half, and toast them in a non-stick frying pan.

Let them cool and arrange them on a serving plate, or on individual plates for single portions.

Remove the parchment paper from the butter, and place it in a butter dish or on a small plate.

With a flat knife, take a portion of butter and spread it on the toasted bread slice.

Cut the shrimp lengthwise, place three on each slice of bread.

Serve your Crostini with Shrimp and Flower Butter, and sprinkle them with lemon zest before bringing them to the table.

Tips, Variations, and Storage

You can’t store crostini with shrimp for long, even in the fridge, because they tend to soften.

However, you can prepare all the ingredients to make them at the moment.

If you don’t like the flowers, you can flavor the butter with your preferred herbs.
