Pan-Seared Salmon Bites with Olives and Capers

Pan-seared salmon bites are an easy and quick main course, rich in flavor with the addition of olives and capers. A variant of pan-seared salmon that we make with salmon steaks. This time, we thought of cutting the salmon into bites to create a kind of fish stew that is really tasty and inviting. It’s a recipe that can be made in just a few minutes because fish doesn’t require long cooking times, and if we cut it into bites, its preparation is even quicker! Using salmon fillets makes it very easy to prepare, but if you have salmon steaks, you need to remove the bones and skin. Therefore, for this recipe, we recommend using salmon fillets if possible, to make it really simple and super quick!

The preparation is very simple: cut the salmon into bites and flour them. Sauté the garlic clove in a pan and add the floured bites, letting them cook on each side for a few minutes over high heat. Deglaze with white wine and continue cooking covered with a lid for a few minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper, and add olives and capers at the end of cooking.

A healthy and tasty main course that we can accompany to make it a complete meal with grains like barley, farro, quinoa, with couscous, and it can also become an excellent condiment for pasta. You just need to get all the ingredients to try it as soon as possible.

  • 1.3 lbs salmon fillets
  • 2/3 cup white wine
  • to taste flour
  • green olives
  • capers
  • 1 clove garlic
  • extra virgin olive oil

Steps to Prepare Pan-Seared Salmon Bites

  • Prepare the pan-seared salmon bites by first cutting the salmon fillets into cubes and dredging them in flour, shaking off the excess.

    In a large pan, pour the olive oil and sauté the garlic for a few minutes.

    Add the floured salmon bites to the pan. Brown them over high heat, turning them so they cook evenly.

    At this point, deglaze with the white wine, season with salt and pepper, and cover with the lid, cooking for about 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens without drying out too much. If it dries out, you can add a few tablespoons of hot water.

    Remove the lid, add the sliced olives and capers. Stir to ensure the bites are well flavored and serve.

You can store these bites in the fridge well-sealed in an airtight container for 2-3 days.

You can use either fresh or frozen salmon fillets.

At the end of cooking, you can also add chopped fresh parsley or basil.

If you don’t like white wine, replace it with lemon juice.
