Salad with Grapes, Feta, and Walnuts: A Complete Main Course

A healthy and complete idea, this salad with grapes, feta, and walnuts is a surprise in every bite, a very interesting and delightful mix of flavors!

You might think it’s silly to praise this basic and autumnal little recipe, but if you prepare it, you’ll taste a different flavor in every bite, such as the saltiness of feta, the sweetness of grapes, the crunchiness of walnut halves, all accompanied by a salad, which for me is mixed with arugula, radicchio, gallinella, and more!

It’s a vegetarian idea without eggs, gluten-free, low glycemic impact, yet it contains good fats, proteins, calcium, and vitamin C.

FOR THE SALAD WITH GRAPES, FETA, AND WALNUTS RECIPE, WE NEED:

SALAD: mixed salad, just lamb’s lettuce or gallinella if you like it tender, iceberg if you want it crunchy; I recommend the mixed salad which is varied, colorful, and nutritious;

FETA: the most famous Greek cheese in the world that is sold in 175 grams blocks, and if you have leftovers, you can mix it with sautéed cherry tomatoes, adding bucatini or spaghetti for a delicious first course that becomes creamy as you mix the sauce and pasta;

GRAPES: surely the WHITE QUEEN fits well, but you can also use the rosé one, but do not use strawberry grapes which, in my opinion, do not fit well!

WALNUTS: experts recommend a daily use of at least 5/6 walnuts because, although they are a caloric food, their benefits to the cardiac system greatly outweigh the caloric intake! Ah, I forgot, if you have them, you can also add MACADAMIA nuts and, clearly to finish, a good drizzle of extra virgin olive oil!

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE SALAD WITH GRAPES, FETA, AND WALNUTS: A Complete Main Course

  • or the mixed salad, as you prefer, and the grapes, which I chose to be sweet and white, but it’s up to you! However, don’t use strawberry grapes… they don’t go well in this dish, trust me!

  • In a serving platter, I place the salad, then add the halved grapes, removing the seeds if present.

  • I cut the Greek feta cheese into cubes and the walnut and/or macadamia nut halves.

    Personally, I added a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and adjusted with salt and pepper, but if you want to follow the recipe, mix the mustard well with the juice of a blonde orange in a small bowl and season the salad with grapes, feta, and walnuts with this dressing as a complete main course!

  • P.S. A small clarification which I know you already know… season the salad only at the moment you’re about to serve it, otherwise it “cooks” and becomes a mess 😉!

    Bon appétit! Annalisa
