  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients for 12 Sweet Puff Pastry Bows

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 oz brown sugar (+ extra for sprinkling)
  • Half teaspoon ground cinnamon

Tools

  • 1 Small Bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • 1 Baking Sheet

Preparation of Sweet Puff Pastry Bows

  • Unroll the rectangle of puff pastry, keeping it on the sheet of parchment paper provided in the package; then gently roll over it with the rolling pin to remove any imperfections.

  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar with half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. In fact, you can adjust this spice according to your personal taste.

  • Spread this sweet mixture over the entire surface of the rectangle and roll over it again with the rolling pin to adhere it well to the pastry.

  • At this point, roll the rectangle starting from both short sides until you join the two rolls in the center.

  • Overlap the right roll over the left one to form a single roll and trim the two ends to even them perfectly.

  • Now cut 12 pieces as shown in the photo.

  • Take each piece and make a cut without touching the whole end of the pastry: you will notice, in fact, that each piece has a whole part and a double part. The cut should be made leaving the whole part intact. I assure you that it’s easier done than said.

  • At this point, open the two ends bringing the whole part of the pastry to the center. Flatten slightly with your fingers and shape the wings to form a butterfly.

  • Place the puff pastry bows on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle them with additional brown sugar.

  • Bake the puff pastry bows in a preheated static oven at 350°F for about 25 minutes or until they are golden. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before enjoying. Enjoy! Paola
