Creamy Currant Dessert

The Creamy Currant Dessert is truly delicious: a perfect contrast between the sweetness of the base and the tanginess of the currants. With just a few simple ingredients, we achieve a fantastic result, a dessert that everyone always loves. I usually also add the grated zest of a lemon or some vanilla seeds, but even this time, when I had neither, it turned out great. I used 6 baking molds for individual servings, but if you want, you can also use a single one with a 12-inch diameter. The powdered sugar added before serving is like the cherry on top. During the Christmas period, it’s rare for me to suggest sweet recipes given the wide variety of classic ones already available. However, in this case, I’ll make an exception, because this recipe fits perfectly at the end of a New Year’s Eve dinner, waiting to eat the cotechino with lentils. But let it be clear, I eat it all year round!!!!

For the procedure, I made a small video, which can be seen on the pages of Facebook Instagram and Pinterest

Put the milk, cream, eggs, and sugar in a bowl and mix well.

Then add the sifted flour and mix everything with an electric mixer.

Distribute the mixture equally in each mold, and add another layer of the remaining currants.

Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F, let it cook for about 35 minutes or until the cream becomes golden brown.

Serve your Creamy Currant Dessert hot, but before bringing it to the table, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.

It’s also delicious at room temperature or even cold.

Tips, Variations, and Storage

You can also prepare the dessert a day in advance because if you prefer it warm, you just need to put it in the microwave.

Of course, sprinkle the powdered sugar only before serving.

This type of dessert can also be frozen and baked at the last moment.

If you don’t like currants, you can use any other type of fruit, it will still be delicious.
