Here’s a really succulent and delicious main meat dish: chicken breast with onions and white wine. And it’s not just tasty and flavorful: it’s also very easy and quick to prepare! In short, the perfect last-minute dish when we need to organize a quick lunch or dinner.
White wine is ideal for giving chicken, which tends to become a bit dry during cooking, moisture and tenderness.
Golden onions, with their sweet and delicate taste, pair perfectly with the wine and enhance this dish with flavor and color. This recipe allows for many variations: instead of chicken breast, we can use turkey breast, and we can make small pieces or strips instead of leaving the slices whole. The choice of onions is also completely free: if we don’t like the golden ones, red ones will do just fine.
The thick sauce that will form during cooking (thanks also to the flour in which we will coat the chicken breast slices) will be a bomb… distribute it generously over the chicken breast once plated, and we can be sure that our guests will want seconds!

Ingredients for Chicken Breast with Onions
- 3 golden onions
- 1.1 lbs chicken breast
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- Half glass white wine
- 1 leaf bay leaf
- to taste flour

Steps for Chicken Breast with Onions
On a cutting board, clean and slice all the onions finely. Then lay them at the bottom of the pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
Let them wilt over medium heat for a few minutes and adjust with salt and pepper.(If you like, you can add 1/2 bay leaves).
Meanwhile, coat the chicken breast slices in flour, on both sides.
When the onions are well wilted and almost caramelized, lay the floured chicken breast on top and let it cook over high heat.
After a few minutes, turn the chicken slices over to the other side and deglaze with some white wine.
Continue cooking, turning occasionally for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.
Serve very hot.

Tips
If you have any leftovers, once cool, store it in the fridge in an airtight container and consume it within 24 hours, after reheating it very well for at least 10 minutes.
