The Baked Pears with Gorgonzola and Walnuts are fantastic to serve as an appetizer for Christmas lunch because they are not only delicious but also very beautiful. They usually please everyone, but if you don’t like gorgonzola, you can opt for fontina, or any cheese that tends to melt. If you are allergic to or don’t like walnuts, hazelnuts are fine too, but so are almonds, so the choice is yours. The size of the pears I chose is medium, but if you want to serve smaller ones because there are many courses, then reduce the cooking time by 5 minutes. Remember, however, to add more, or reduce the ingredients. Pears are an excellent autumn fruit for sweet and savory preparations, also because they are very good for our health. Eating them with the skin is important because that’s where the fruit’s nutritional properties are concentrated. So raw or cooked, always consume them with the skin, as long as they come from organic farming.

How to Make Baked Pears with Gorgonzola and Walnuts
To prepare Baked Pears with Gorgonzola and Walnuts, organize your workspace with all the ingredients already measured.
This way you have everything at hand, to make your work easier and faster.
Carefully wash the pears under running water, trying to remove as many impurities as possible.
Dry them well, cut them in half and with a teaspoon remove the central part, the hard part where you find the seeds.
Try to do the same on the upper part, to also remove the stem that goes from the center upwards.
Do not remove the stem, because it is very beautiful to see.
Place some walnut pieces inside the hollow you created, and right after also the gorgonzola.
Distribute the rest of the walnuts, thyme leaves, and arrange them in a baking pan, previously lined with parchment paper.
Finally, sprinkle with grated parmesan, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes.
Serve your Baked Pears with Gorgonzola and Walnuts, just taken out of the oven but with a drizzle of honey, your favorite kind.
Even warm they are not bad, in fact, you can taste the flavors of the ingredients much more, so if you need you can also prepare them an hour in advance.
Tips, Variations, and Storage
You can store baked pears in the refrigerator for at least one day, and then reheat them in the microwave.
Good at room temperature too, but freshly baked they are definitely something else.
If you don’t like some ingredient or are allergic, feel free to choose what you prefer, but try them right away because they are delicious.
