Ingredients
- 4 pieces chicken
- 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 clove garlic
- 12 oz tomato puree
- 5 capers
- to taste oregano
- 3.5 oz mozzarella
- to taste basil
Tools
To make the Chicken Strips Pizzaiola Style recipe you need:
- 1 Cutting board
- 1 Knife
- 1 Pan
Steps
First, cut the chicken pieces into strips (or you can keep them whole). In a large enough pan, heat 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil along with the garlic, then add the chicken and brown well on all sides over high heat. Remove the chicken and set aside.
In the same pan, add a drizzle of oil, the capers, and the tomato puree, season with salt and cook, covered, for about 10 – 15 minutes, over low heat. If it dries too much, add a few tablespoons of hot water.
Meanwhile, grate the mozzarella (I used pizza mozzarella, less watery) or cut it into pieces or slices, as you prefer, and set aside.
Once the sauce is ready, remove the garlic, add the chicken strips, and cover them with the sauce, the grated mozzarella, and put back on low heat, with the lid on, for a few minutes, until the mozzarella has melted.
Add a few torn basil leaves and serve. Enjoy your meal!
See you in the next recipe.
Storage
You can store Chicken Strips Pizzaiola Style in the refrigerator for 1 – 2 days, in an airtight container.
Tips and Suggestions
In the first step, after browning the meat, you can add 1/2 glass of white wine and let it evaporate. You can also flour the meat before browning it, but I prefer it without.
You can also add some olives, green and black, to the sauce when you add the chicken strips, before serving.
If you don’t have mozzarella at home, any cheese will do, the important thing is that it melts well.
