Bagli/Begli with Poppy Seeds
The Hungarian panettone par excellence, I couldn’t not try it! The “Bagli” is a roll filled with poppy seeds, I must say very, very good. A simple recipe to prepare that keeps very well!

Ingredients for Bagli/Begli with Poppy Seeds:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tbsps powdered sugar
- 7 tbsps butter
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp fresh yeast
- 1 1/4 cups poppy seeds
- 3 tbsps water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- ground cinnamon
- raisins
- lemon zest
- vanilla

We put the flour, the sugar, a little salt, the butter and start mixing. In a bowl, we put the yolk, the milk,
We add the yeast and mix. We add it little by little while kneading. Wrap the dough obtained in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Preparation of the filling:
We put the sugar, lemon zest, raisins, vanilla, cinnamon, boiling water and mix.
We combine the mix obtained with the poppy seeds.
Assembly:
After about 30 minutes…we take half the dough and roll it out.We put on top half of the prepared filling and roll it. We do the same thing with the other half of the dough
We brush them with egg yolk and milk and place them in the fridge for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we brush them again and put them back in the fridge for another 30 minutes. Then we take them out of the fridge and wait 30 minutes
we brush again with the egg, then we prick them with a toothpick. We bake at 356°F for about 40 minutes.
