Air Fryer Onion Rings

Air Fryer Onion Rings, a very simple recipe to make crunchy and tasty onion rings at home.

Making onion rings at home is much less complicated than one might think: just make a simple batter to dip the onion rings in, then they should be coated with breadcrumbs. Thanks to the air fryer, less than 10 minutes of cooking will be enough.

This recipe will be perfect to serve at your appetizers and aperitifs.

Of course, you can also make these onion rings in a traditional fryer at 340°F for about 3-5 minutes.

At the end of the recipe in the FAQ section, I answered some questions regarding this preparation. If you don’t find the answer you were looking for, leave a comment or use the contact form.

  • Start preparing the air fryer onion rings by peeling the onion and slicing it about 0.4 inches thick.
Gently extract the rings without breaking them and save the central part of the slices for other preparations.

  • Add a pinch of garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and half a teaspoon of smoked paprika to the all-purpose flour. Mix well to combine all the powders together.

  • Beat a medium-sized egg with the milk. Add 1/3 cup of the prepared flour mixture.
Mix with a whisk until you have a smooth and lump-free batter.

  • Add salt and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil to the breadcrumbs.
Mix with a spoon to combine everything.

  • Coat the onion rings first in the flour, then in the batter, and finally in the seasoned breadcrumbs.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 356°F and keep it warm for about 3-5 minutes.
Place the onion rings inside and cook for 6-8 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.
