Pancakes with Supermarket Mix

For some years now, even in Italy, we have been accustomed to consuming foreign foods that have become part of normality and are no longer considered exceptional, as might have been the case a few decades ago.

We are often attracted by globalization and trends, especially those made in the USA present in many sectors including gastronomy and food in general. Today, for this reason, I am talking to you about a typical breakfast food, namely pancakes!

Pancakes made from eggs, milk, and flour that are then quickly cooked in a pan. Traditionally, they are stacked on top of each other as they are cooked and then topped with maple syrup.

In this recipe, I made pancakes using one of those ready mixes from the supermarket where I only added milk. A quick and effortless alternative that allows you to enjoy an American breakfast!

Steps

To make the pancakes with supermarket mix

  • To start, get a pancake mix from the supermarket. In this case, I bought it at one of the most well-known discount stores. Following the very simple instructions, I just had to add 1.75 cups of milk.

  • Next, I poured the milk into the bottle and shook vigorously for a few minutes until everything was well combined and reached a smooth and homogeneous consistency.

  • Meanwhile, take a non-stick pan and melt a small knob of butter. Leaving the heat on medium-low, once the temperature is reached, pour in a ladle of batter covering the entire surface of the pan.

  • At this point, let it cook and wait for bubbles to form, a signal that lets you know that the pancake can be turned over to the other side.

  • To complete the cooking, flip the pancake using a silicone spatula and let it cook on the other side for about 1 minute before moving it to a plate.

  • Lastly, continue cooking all the pancakes until the batter is finished, adding a small knob of butter to the pan each time before pouring in the batter. Each time, stack all the pancakes on top of each other.

  • Finally, take your pancakes and garnish with maple syrup and dried fruit of your choice. Use some pistachio crumb to give it a more pleasant touch!
