Have you ever heard of these desserts? They are typical Romanian sweets and I’ll tell you right away that they are very CHOCOLATEY so if you love chocolate desserts, you must try them. This is my mom’s favorite dessert, so after a long time, I decided to make it and she loved them very much! Quite a simple dessert if you respect the resting times ☺️

Ingredients for Amandine:

for the base (pan 12×16 inches)

  • 7 oz sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 5 egg whites
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Half packet baking powder
  • vanilla
  • salt
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 5 oz sugar
  • 2 packets Cappuccino
  • rum flavor
  • 7 oz butter
  • 5 oz sugar
  • 1 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • rum flavor

Steps

  • Base preparation:

    We mix half the sugar with the egg yolks and half with the egg whites and whisk until stiff. Add a pinch of salt to the yolks and whip.

  • Add vanilla, oil, cocoa, flour, and baking powder.

  • Mix. Gradually fold in the egg whites. Place the mixture in the pan. Spread and level it.

  • Bake at 356°F for about 20 min.

    Syrup preparation:

    In a saucepan, put water, sugar, cappuccino, rum flavor, and bring to a boil.

  • Once ready, transfer to a container and let it cool.

    Cream preparation:

    In a bowl, put room temperature butter, sugar, cocoa, cream, rum flavor, and mix using beaters.

  • Assembly:

    Take the well-chilled base and cut it in half, then cut out two equal shapes. Cover the mold with plastic wrap and place the first shape.

  • Moisten with the cold syrup prepared earlier. Add the cream, spread, and level well. Place the second shape on top,

  • moisten, then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the next day. The next day remove the mold and cut into squares,

  • remove the edges then place the squares in paper cases. Decorate as desired with melted chocolate.
