Baked Asparagus and Bacon, a tasty side dish made with just two ingredients: asparagus and thinly sliced bacon. Simple, quick, and not only delicious but also super easy, so it’s suitable even for those less experienced in the kitchen. The seasonality of asparagus is so short that during this period you really need to eat a lot of them, and this recipe is a really tasty way to vary: soft inside and crispy outside. Suitable for water retention, for colon inflammation, they contain folic acid and vitamins from A to C. In short, not only delicious, even on their own, but also very valuable.
The quantities proposed for making this recipe are subjective, because they vary depending on how you want to present the dish. If it is an appetizer, you’ll count by number, otherwise, if you want to serve them as a side dish to accompany dishes, you can adjust by weight. I would suggest not exceeding 600 grams of asparagus, because with the bacon, they are quite filling.
Do not throw away the asparagus scraps, because they will be useful for other recipes, such as Blinis made with asparagus scraps. If there are few, put them in a container and freeze them until you have enough.

Ingredients
- 14 oz cleaned asparagus
- 1 thin slice of streaky bacon for each asparagus
Tools
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
Preparation
With a small knife, remove the tough part of the asparagus, the end, but do not throw it away, because with the right care it could be used to prepare other tasty dishes. Like, for example, Tasty Asparagus Fritters.
Soak them in lukewarm water for a few minutes, just long enough to soften any remaining dirt.
Then rinse them under running water, dry them with paper towels or a cloth, and place them on a plate.
Now take the thin slices of bacon, which are obviously machine-sliced and wrap them in a spiral around each asparagus.
As you prepare them, place them inside a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated convection oven at 356°F, and let them cook for about 15 minutes or until the bacon becomes browned and crispy.
Serve our Baked Asparagus and Bacon, piping hot, because they should be crispy outside and soft inside.
Tips and Storage
You can store the asparagus and bacon in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 days, but inside an airtight container. It is obvious that when reheated they will lose their crispness, but they will still be delicious.
For this recipe, buy farmed asparagus, the rather large ones, because otherwise, the result would not be the same, even though the wild, thinner ones are certainly more flavorful.
