Who doesn’t love fried food?! I think fried things are something DIVINE 😅 at least for me! Anyway, if you’re watching your waistline, I can tell you that you can also bake these calzones in the oven or in an air fryer but obviously the final result won’t be the same! The calzones are perfect as a starter or appetizer in a menu based on meat or pizza 🍕! A simple recipe to prepare that will surely please everyone, from the youngest to the oldest.

Ingredients for calzones with tomato and mozzarella:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 0.42 oz fresh yeast
  • salt
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 14 oz mozzarella
  • 1 2/3 cups tomato sauce

Steps

The preparation of calzones with tomato and mozzarella is very simple, watch the video HERE.

  • Put the flour and a pinch of salt. Separately in a container, put the yeast, sugar, and a little water, mix well to dissolve it, and add it to the flour and salt.

  • Add the remaining water and mix and knead until you get a homogeneous dough. Finally, add a bit of oil and continue kneading for a few minutes. Let it rise for about 2 hours in a warm place.

  • After the rest, divide it into small pieces. Take one piece at a time and roll it out. Add some tomato sauce.

  • Add a bit of mozzarella and close to form the calzone. Make sure to close them well; otherwise, the filling may leak out during cooking. If the dough sticks, you can use some oil or flour.

  • Continue until you’ve used all the ingredients. You can bake them at 356°F for about 30 minutes or fry them in hot oil.
