Perhaps a bit bold to call it a recipe, but it is surely a spectacular idea for a super simple yet irresistible meal. “Bread and Tomato” could also be a fitting title for a book, a movie, or perhaps even a song! It truly is a symbol of Mediterranean culture thanks to the use of some iconic ingredients like tomato and extra virgin olive oil.
I treasure it in my childhood memories because my mother used to prepare it often for my snack using the typical white bread of the city of Palermo. She would alternate between “mafalda“, “semprefresco“, or “scaletta“, all types of bread from the artistry of bakers in the Sicilian capital.
In this recipe, you will discover how extremely easy it is to prepare using only essential ingredients: bread, tomato, oil, salt, and oregano.
