Fusilli Nelson Style

The Fusilli Nelson Style recalls the name Horatio Nelson, although, frankly, I haven’t found any connection other than this Sicilian-style recipe aiming to pay tribute to the admiral who saved King Ferdinand’s life and throne.

As usual, I do online research when I encounter traditional recipes, and in my online musings, I found in one recipe an addition of béchamel and in another, pistachio crumbs, which might be connected to the recipe since our Horatio was named First Count of Bronte, the queen city of pistachios!

Anyway, this pasta Nelson style recipe is delicious and quite enjoyable, also rather quick to prepare.

Ingredients FUSILLI NELSON STYLE

  • 11 oz fusilli
  • 1 black oval eggplant
  • 9 oz swordfish
  • 4 oz tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic
  • to taste mint
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

FOR THE PREPARATION OF FUSILLI NELSON STYLE RECIPE

  • remove the skin from the swordfish and then cut it into cubes.

    On moderate heat, place a high-edged saucepan for cooking the pasta.

    Wash the eggplant and cut it into cubes as well.

    I don’t want to repeat myself, but do the same with the tomatoes; use whatever you prefer and have available.

  • In a pan that can also hold the pasta later, add a drizzle of EVO oil where you will then sauté the swordfish, adding the cherry tomatoes and the eggplant cubes.

    Adjust with salt and pepper and let it cook for 6/7 minutes.

    Also cook the pasta, draining it al dente, and pour it directly into the pan or wok containing the sauce, adding a few fresh mint leaves.

  • Check the seasoning of the Fusilli Nelson Style and assemble individual plates to enjoy this quick Sicilian main course!
