The rice and julienned zucchini gratin with mozzarella and diced ham is what I consider a different oven-baked first course, good at all temperatures and easy to prepare (better at room temperature).
We can prepare this casserole by eliminating both mozzarella and ham and loading up on vegetables with a generous dice of carrots and peppers and maybe adding a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan before baking!
This gratin is also perfect if prepared beforehand because it is excellent at room temperature, and we can also take it on a classic day trip for Easter Monday.

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE RICE AND JULIENNED ZUCCHINI GRATIN RECIPE
I preheat the oven to 350°F and after washing them, julienne the zucchini and place them directly into a salad bowl.
I also thinly slice the fresh scallion and add it while also adding
the chosen rice, julienned mozzarella, diced ham, and mix the various ingredients well.
In a bowl, beat the egg with the milk and light cream and then pour this mix over the rice and zucchini mixture.
Season with salt and pepper and proceed to prepare the baking dish.
Lightly grease a baking dish with a small amount of vegetable oil and sprinkle it with breadcrumbs, removing the excess.
Pour the rice, zucchini, and ham mix and after leveling it, bake the savory zucchini gratin for about 40/45 minutes or depending on the characteristics of our home oven.
I preferred to make a small square to ensure the cooking of the rice and julienned mozzarella gratin was perfect, and then let it cool completely before bringing it to the table for tasting!
Simple and almost creamy …
Enjoy your meal! Annalisa
