I have just prepared two quick recipes with ready-made puff pastry: quick and filled appetizer and sugar buttons that are now in the oven!
As I always say, it’s a tasty little savory idea that we can prepare and cook in 30 minutes, including cooking time, and it could be a super easy appetizer for lunch and/or the Easter Monday picnic.
I chose the filling based on what I found in the fridge, meaning cream cheese, slices of cooked ham cut from a chunk, and slices of scamorza cheese.
As always, I made “small” portions using just one package but made chunky squares, and voilà, the result!
Clearly, we can use other cheese like provolone, grated parmesan, or other cold cuts like speck, or make them with a cream cheese base and grilled zucchini on top… let your imagination run wild!!!!!!!

then I preheat the oven to 375°F and proceed to fill the future puff pastry squares.
On half of the puff pastry rectangle, I spread the creamy spreadable cheese
then I add the slices… cut in a horribly manner, I see
then I put the slices of scamorza cheese
then I cover with the other half of the puff pastry and then MAYBE I MADE A MISTAKE, I have already cut the squares… mumble mumble 🤔!
then I brushed with the egg yolk beaten with the milk, sprinkled with poppy seeds, and off it goes, I baked them for about 25 minutes or depending on our home oven.
Wow… they are tasty and super quick!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy your meal! Annalisa
